Mission Statement

China Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand has become very influential in New Zealand, with many of China’s SOEs as active members, along with the full support of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in New Zealand.
Members are engaged in diverse industries covering many areas of trade, dairy, tourism, processing, shipping, air transport, timber, real estate, education, science and technology, finance and insurance.

History

China Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand was founded in 2002. The selective membership includes many of China’s prominent companies as members; Bank of China (NZ), Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (NZ), China Construction Bank (NZ), Haier Appliances (NZ), Huawei (NZ), Yashili (NZ), Waste Management, COSCO Corporation (NZ), China Travel Service (NZ), Air China, China Southern, China Eastern,to name a few, along with many local Chinese business executives.

Governance

The highest decision-making body of the China Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand is the Standing Committee, which is composed of the President, Vice Presidents, members of the Board, and the Secretariat.
Any Chinese-funded enterprises operating in New Zealand, representative offices, New Zealand local enterprises engaged in trade with China, and New Zealand branches of large multinational corporations may apply for membership, provided that they comply with the Chamber’s Constitution, pay membership fees on time, and fulfil their membership obligations.

The China Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand (CCCNZ) was established in 2002 with the support of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in New Zealand. Its mission is to serve as a bridge to promote China–New Zealand economic and trade exchanges; facilitate the integration and growth of Chinese enterprises in New Zealand; strengthen communication and mutual support among Chinese companies; provide a platform for exchange and cooperation; and assist member enterprises in raising reasonable concerns while safeguarding their legitimate business interests in New Zealand.

CCCNZ members include branches of major Chinese state-owned banks and enterprises in New Zealand, such as Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank, COSCO Shipping Lines, China Southern Airlines, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, and China Travel Service. In addition, companies invested in New Zealand by large Chinese state-owned enterprises, such as Haier Group and Mengniu Yashili, are also members. Many well-known Chinese private enterprises—including Yili, Huawei, and Fu Wah Group—have established operations in New Zealand as well. The Chamber also welcomes locally grown, Chinese-background businesses and professionals. Collectively, member companies operate across diverse sectors including finance, dairy, tourism, aviation, shipping, forestry, education, technology, insurance, trade, and processing.

In recent years, CCCNZ has successfully organized major events such as the China–New Zealand Tourism Investment and Cooperation Summit and the China–New Zealand Economic and Trade Seminar. Since 2020, it has also led New Zealand enterprises to participate in the China International Import Expo (CIIE). The Chamber has hosted annual charity galas for many years, raising funds for organizations including Starship Foundation, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO), St. John, City Mission, and Mercy Hospice. These efforts demonstrate CCCNZ’s strong sense of social responsibility and have won widespread recognition from across New Zealand society.

Looking ahead, the China Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand will continue to play an increasingly important role as a platform and bridge in bilateral economic and trade relations, making further contributions to advancing high-level cooperation between the two countries.
