Charitable Donation Ceremony Held by CCCNZ

On December 17, 2025, the China Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand (CCCNZ)held a charitable donation ceremony in Auckland.

On the evening of the Chamber’s annual event ,“Vision 2026”, on December 5, the China Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand continued its tradition of public welfare by organizing a special charity auction. The auction featured a diverse range of lots, including original artworks by artists, collectibles, international airfare, kitchen appliances, products from well-known Chinese brands, as well as New Zealand-style travel experiences and hotel accommodations. Guests at the event enthusiastically placed bids in a lively atmosphere that fully demonstrated the strong interest and active support of the China–New Zealand business community for charitable causes. In the end, the charity auction raised a total of NZD 56,000.

The proceeds raised have been fully donated to Disability Sport Auckland and the CatWalk Spinal Cord Injury Research Foundation, to support the daily training, competition participation of athletes with disabilities, and research projects related to spinal cord injury. These contributions aim to help improve opportunities in sports development and quality of life for people with disabilities.

At the donation ceremony, the Vice President of the China Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand, Xiao Zerun, General Manager of the Auckland Office of China Southern Airlines; Grant Sharman, Vice Chairman of CatWalk and Board Member of Disability Sport Auckland; and their colleagues jointly attended and witnessed this meaningful moment. The event also attracted coverage from the New Zealand Chinese media “Home Voice”.

Speaking to the media, Grant Sharman said, “The CatWalk Spinal Cord Injury Research Foundation has always been searching for ways to treat spinal cord injuries. And the people at Disability Sport Auckland are no different from others — they have the same desire to participate in sports. Researching spinal cord injury is like climbing the Everest of medicine: we are steadily building a team, strengthening research capabilities, and working hard to overcome challenges. With the support of donated funds, we believe that research can enter the clinical trial phase by 2029. This gives hope to staff in both of our organizations.”

For many years, the China Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand has always regarded fulfilling social responsibility as an important mission. While promoting China–New Zealand economic and trade cooperation, the Chamber has also actively participated in and supported local charitable causes. This charitable donation not only reflects the deep integration and sincere contribution of member companies to New Zealand society, but also highlights the shared vision of the China–New Zealand business community in fostering social inclusion and sharing the outcomes of development together.

In the future, the China Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand will continue to unite its members, advancing business development alongside social responsibility, and contribute more positive efforts to the sustainable development of China–New Zealand relations and the well-being of the local community.
