CCCNZ Successfully Hosts Seminar on Corporate and Personal Safety

CCCNZ

With strong support from the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand, the China Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand (CCCNZ) successfully held a special seminar on corporate and personal safety on the afternoon of June 23, 2025. The seminar was conducted online and attracted numerous representatives from member organisations and Chinese-funded enterprises in New Zealand.

As China–New Zealand economic and trade cooperation continues to deepen, Chinese-funded enterprises and their employees in New Zealand are facing increasingly complex challenges in areas such as workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and the protection of personal and property rights. To further enhance members’ awareness of risk prevention and their safety management capabilities, the Chamber invited Minister-Counsellor Zhang Xinyu and Police Liaison Officer Zeng Fanjing from the Chinese Embassy to deliver in-depth insights on topics such as corporate security and compliant operations.

The seminar was hosted by Mr Liu Bin, Vice President of CCCNZ  and President of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (New Zealand) Limited. In his opening remarks, Mr Liu emphasised that “safety is no small matter; the responsibility is heavier than a mountain.” He stressed that overseas Chinese enterprises must not only focus on business development but also firmly establish the concept of safe development, fulfil their primary responsibility for safety, and ensure orderly, compliant operations while protecting the safety, property, and legal rights of their employees.

Minister-Counsellor Zhang Xinyu provided an in-depth analysis of the business environment and security challenges faced by Chinese-funded enterprises in New Zealand in light of the current international situation and domestic policy requirements. She noted that the increasing frequency of China–New Zealand economic exchanges has brought higher expectations for corporate compliance and risk management. Minister Zhang encouraged enterprises to make full use of the resources provided by the Embassy and the Chamber to strengthen their capabilities in risk prevention and emergency response.

Following this, Police Liaison Officer Zeng Fanjing delivered a 45-minute special lecture. Drawing on real-life cases, Officer Zeng provided a detailed explanation of New Zealand’s security environment and public safety landscape. He highlighted key safety considerations for enterprises and individuals in their daily work and life, including preventing telecommunications fraud, enhancing financial security, and responding to emergencies. The lecture combined policy-level insights with practical guidance, earning high praise from attendees.

In his closing remarks, Mr Liu stated that the seminar was rich in content, filled with practical examples, and highly instructive. It enabled participants to gain valuable knowledge on workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and protection of personal and property safety. He also emphasised the Embassy’s ongoing care and support for Chinese enterprises in New Zealand. Mr Liu expressed hope that all member organisations would take this seminar as an opportunity to continue improving their safety management practices, turning what they learned into concrete actions to build a strong safety foundation for enterprise development.

CCCNZ will continue to play its role as a bridge and link, actively providing practical and efficient services to member enterprises. Based on member needs, the Chamber will continue to organise diverse and content-rich special events.
